About
Tolga Ors holds a PhD in Satellite Communications from the University of Surrey and runs New Space Consulting in London, helping deep-tech startups move from idea to sustainable implementation: business assessment, technology transfer, partnerships, programme management and capacity building. He is interested in applying space, artificial intelligence and robotics to global challenges such as natural disasters, climate change and asteroid impact risk.
At Inmarsat he led UK Space Agency co-funded programmes for disaster response in the Philippines, reducing illegal fishing in Indonesia and improving health outcomes in Nigeria, as well as an ESA project that delivered one of the world's first mobile HEVC video encoders. He was Program Director for OneWeb at CGI, worked with AST SpaceMobile, and managed artificial intelligence programmes at The Alan Turing Institute and at the University of Surrey's FAIR-SPACE hub for space AI and robotics. Today he heads R&D and software at Tumbleweed Mars, which proposes exploring Mars with a swarm of wind-driven rovers.
