About
Álvaro Sassano is an agricultural production engineer from Universidad Católica Argentina and has led ScanTerra, a satellite and geo-referenced information solutions company, since 2005. With a long track record in remote sensing and geographic information systems, he has run projects mainly in agribusiness: precision agriculture, yield estimation, climate risk and crop and pasture monitoring, serving producers, insurers and investors.
Under his leadership ScanTerra has expanded into new markets: mining, energy, defence and security, government and the maritime domain. He was previously a researcher at INTA, Argentina's agricultural technology institute, and specialised in space technology applications for health and emergencies within SIASGE, the Italian-Argentine Satellite System for Emergency Management run by the Italian Space Agency and CONAE.
